"Progress" by Any Other Name...Might Not Be!"
I recently saw a campaign sign where the
candidate claimed to be progressive. The use of the
word "progressive" has increased dramatically during
the past few years. So what is progressive? The root
word of progressive is progress. Progress is
generally defined as "forward or onward movement
towards a destination or such movement that results
in improvement or advancement towards a goal". It is
one of those words that has largely been hijacked by
the liberal left culture of today. Apparently
sending billions of dollars to Ukraine while
simultaneously leaving our southern border
unprotected is "progress". That is just one example,
but I digress...the nature of what constitutes
progress is largely in the eye of the beholder. The
validation of what constitutes progress is largely
measured by the momentum of cultural movements. And
therein squats the toad...when momentum is mistaken
for progress, one has only to remember that an
intoxicated driver barreling down the wrong lane has
tremendous momentum, but hardly has progress. Me
thinks we often mistake momentum for progress, and
what is called progress is often validated by little
more than the dogmatic assertions of those who are
supposedly progressing. Momentum works both ways,
either regressive or progressive. The "gist" of the
matter is this: When someone or something is said to
be progressive, be skeptical, sort out all terms and
definitions. Exercise discernment. You might just
find that a lot of the so-called progressiveness of
our day is little more than drunken momentum.

Entry "The Vagueness of Local Candidacy"
Over the
years I have noticed
that by and large when a
candidate runs for local
office (council, mayor,
sheriff, etc.)
distinctly missing from
any public reference are
details regarding that
person's political
ideologies. Persons
running for these
positions rarely
identify as Republican,
Democrat, liberal,
conservative, pro-life,
pro-choice and so on.
There is a tendency of
"trying to walk down the
middle" and alienate as
few voters as possible.
I have other less
endearing terms to
describe this type of
behavior, namely
wishy-washy and fence
sitters. The go-to
explanation as to why
candidates are "vague"
is something along the
lines of "my personal
beliefs will not affect
my ability to do the
job". Really? I believe
that when candidates
engage in this type of
compartmentalization of
their identity, they are
intentionally projecting
a limited, engineered
view of who they are. If
a candidate voted for
Joe Biden, wouldn't you
want to know it? If a
candidate voted for
Donald Trump, wouldn't
you want to know it? I
could go on all day with
examples, but you get
the idea. Voters deserve
to know as much about a
candidate as possible.
Its called integrity.
